Airborne Anxiety: Navigating Mixed Messages at the Check-In Counter

I am traveling through a few African countries. I am at the Airport waiting to check-in. I am told the plane is delayed. What? Not to worry. I go and take a nap in a cafe close by.

I come back to the check-in counter and find an attendant. He explains to me. There is a problem with the Aircraft. They are fixing it. That is why there is a delay. You know he says,” When you are in the air and something happens, there are no saviors.” Relax, this Airline has a good safety record”.

I go back to my seat. I can’t relax now. It would have been better if he hadn’t told me this.

What I can’t figure out is whether he was being comforting or scary.

Because I was scared throughout that 40-minute flight.
