It’s 2 January 2024. I am making a withdrawal at CBG Bank. A lady is crying at the customer service desktop. She is crying because the maintenance charges on her account have eroded all her savings. Her original deposit was GHS 150.00. She has GHS 75.00 left.
She laments she is a widow with 4 kids. I was suddenly overwhelmed with emotions.
I walk up to the customer service desk and ask,” What is going on I want to help?”
I am informed that the bank is returning all her money – GHS 150.00 – plus GHS 100.00. Good.
She clears her tears.
After she left the bank, I chased her and gave her an extra GHS 200.00 for her troubles.
