During the Mao regime in China, crows were destroying most of the crops. They had become a nuisance to the farmers. They were reducing the amount of harvests expected per the season.
The government decides to eliminate this nuisance. With the help of the people, the crows are hunted and eventually extinguished for the farms.
Now with all the crows gone, who is going to eat all the locusts and the bugs?
This is one of the causes of the great famine in China. The famine killed 50 million people.
